In today’s world, communications are of utmost importance, there is absolutely no doubt about that. Satellite tv is one of the technological breakthroughs of the 20th century. Made possible because of the massive satellite fleets deployed by different companies and with different purposes, satellite tv has in a way revolutionized communications.

The communications satellites of different companies relay on an increasingly diverse range of TV programming. And when it comes to the options you have for your satellite tv receiver, this will greatly depend on the very nature of the satellite tv service you desire to view. There are satellite tv programs which are (FTA). FTA is an abbreviation from “free to air”. However, there are other satellite tv services which are encrypted, and are only available to subscribers of various satellite tv companies.

Another important distinction must also be made between satellite tv services which are analog and those which are digital. The analog services are based on electromagnetic waves that vary in their frequency. I am sure you have heard of the term FM, which is short for frequency modulation. Also, analogue transmissions can vary in intensity. In the latter case, the process is called amplitude modulation, or AM.

But digital signals are a different story entirely. And yes, we have entered in the digital age, where everything is made up from many 0s and 1s. This is also how a digital signal is broadcast, in a series of binary digits called bits. 1 means on, 0 means off, and this is how information is actually transmitted to the computer circuitry.

When speaking about the costs of an analog satellite tv receiver, it depends on the number of features offered (as every other electronic product). There are some low cost receivers which equal the high priced items in quality. However, there is a downside. And the downside is the fact that the operator must remember all the adjustments that need to be made and execute them, with each satellite tv broadcast.

However, since we are in the digital era, there are dozens of digital satellite tv services which are emerging all over the place. And their number will only increase in the following years, there is absolutely no doubt about that. The question of MPEG compliancy is a very debatable issue though.

And another difference from the analogue services is the fact that digital services are usually a part of a big package, which consists in a wide array of channel options. This is because digital compression makes combining more channels in a single digital stream possible. This is how “bouquets” are created, and these packages have a great appeal to people who always want “all in one”. Having multiple channels in a single package is very convenient, as more and more types of tv stations emerge all over the world. These stations are very specialized. If you want to want sports, entertainment, or everything else and from over the world, there never has been a better time for that with the help of digital satellite tv.

Are you looking to buy a HDTV? Take a look at our guide to find out what HDTV is about.

1. What does HDTV stand for?

High Definition Television

2. What is HTDV?

It is a new technology and way of filming that has a higher bit depth resolution and gives you a sense or realism while watching the program. Sports are one of the leading industries in high definition programming. To film in HDTV requires a special camera.

3. How can I tell if my TV is HDTV?

It should say it directly on the box or with the model number. EDTV is not HDTV! There is another side aspect most people overlook due to pricing schemes and that is pixel depth. The cheaper plasmas and LCD have lower clarity or pixels. Therefore, to buy a great HDTV, you need to look for higher pixel resolutions.

4. Why Should I Buy One?

Because you will never go back, it is like night and day. A true HDTV and HD Television Program are ten times better picture clarity than at the movie theaters. HDTV’s also have lots of additional features that standard old televisions do not. They usually have ports for connecting to computers to act as a computer monitor, split screen, more aspect ratios for watching in different formats. Since the cameras have have been improved to record HD programs, they also went ahead and improved the sound recording system and so you have even higher quality sound to go along with the improved picture.

HDTV has been out for a few years now and therefore there are less bugs and defunct screens. In addition, the price has drastically fallen, for around $2000 you can buy an excellent 32-42¡± screen with high resolution and all the extra options.

5. Is there anything else I should know when buying a HDTV screen?

Yes, the cables can be very expensive. HDMI cables, RGB, and others that maximize the picture and sound (which are necessary) can cost between $35-$50 each and you need several. It is not necessary to buy name brand cables, so go to places like radio shack and buy the off brand for half the price. In addition, please research whether you should buy an LCD or Plasma screen, because based on you use and room arrangements you will require one or the other.

Define ODBC
ODBC (Open Data Base Connectivity) is a function library which provides a common API (Application Programming Interface) for ODBC compliant database management systems.
ODBC was developed by the SQL Access Group in 1992.
ODBC operates as an industry-standard “shim” between applications which utilize databases and the databases themselves.
If an application is developed using ODBC, the application will be able to store data in any database management system which is equipped with an ODBC driver.
ODBC drivers are often developed in sub-components:
?An ODBC Driver Manager
?ODBC Drivers
The application submits ODBC calls to the ODBC driver manager.
The ODBC driver manager selects the appropriate ODBC driver, loads that driver, and sends read or write requests using that driver.
The ODBC driver processes the ODBC function calls, submits the SQL requests to the database, and returns the results to the application.

The Apple iPod is synonymous with mobile audio and music, and with the launching of the video-capable iPod, music lovers not only will enjoy the audio but also video.
Learn how to turn your iPod 2.5 inches screen into the equivalency of a 27 inches TV viewing while on the go!

The Apple iPod is synonymous with mobile audio and music, and with the launching of the video-capable iPod, music lovers not only will enjoy the audio but also video.

Herein lies the problem – the apple iPod screen is only 2.5 inches, and there is no doubt that viewing pleasure can be increased when we can have a bigger video screen.

How then can the iPod have a bigger viewing screen – so as to be considered a mobile TV as well?

To convert your iPod into a Mobile TV, all you need to do is to get a MicroOptical Goggles.

You can wear this goggle over your regular spectacles or eyeglasses, and where you do not feel comfortable, you can do so over your contact lenses.

The goggles is fairly light at 70 g, with a belt clip that holds the iPod and the battery pack of 3 AAA-batteries. A cable connects to the iPod headphone port.

These goggles will deliver the image from two tiny LCDs through a series of lenses directly to the eyes so that you can watch video on what looks like a 27 inch screen TV!

Now, if you are always on the go and travelling, and you need to research or study or to get information from video clips, you can now enjoy 27″ equivalency viewing with the apple iPod.

The only drawback is the cost of the MicroOptical Corp Goggles, which, however is expected to drop with demand. Without the goggles, you have to tolerate the viewing from the 2.5 inch screen from the iPod, or dish out around $269 for the Goggles and start to enjoy Mobile TV using the iPod.

With the development of technology, soon the battery pack consisting of the 3-AAA size batteries will disappear, making it more light weight!

Indeed, there is nothing to hold back the iPod from developing into the music player and mobile TV player if you can afford the cost of the goggles.

If you want to learn a new language, then why not learn it in the comfort of your very own car. There are hundreds of excellent courses around that will help you do just that. I have put together the top four tips on how to go about learning French in your car. It’s so easy that you could start today!

I think your car is one of the best places to learn a new language. The best thing about learning in your car is that you can do it alone. Trying to pronounce new words and copying strange accents is difficult, not to mention embarrassing. French is a beautiful language but, recreating an authentic accent can create some very comedic results. Thankfully, you can do this in the privacy of your own car. No one can hear you making mistakes, so you can repeat words over and over again without annoying the hell out of anyone.

Some people find it difficult to maintain a structured learning pattern. The best results can be seen from learners who set aside time each day, which they to dedicate to learning. This shouldn’t even be a concern for you as you could use ever journey in you car as a learning session. Be sure not to learn during those longer journeys ?be sure to keep the sessions short. Your drive to work, the school run or even the weekly trip to the supermarket would be perfect. It’s proven that short bursts of learning are the most effective and help you retain maximum amounts of information.

Listen, repeat and learn. This is the mantra for the most popular CD and audio courses on the market. Repeating and learning is simple, but listening is the most difficult thing to do. Sometimes you think you are listening, but really it’s going in one ear and out of the other. Listen as many times as possible. The more times you hear a word or phrase the more likely you are to commit its meaning and how to pronounce it to memory. Listen for the subtleties in the accent and the rhythm of the language. Recreating an authentic accent is far more difficult than remember words.

Now you know the benefits and best techniques for learning French in your car ?you are going to need a French tuition course. Because you are learning in your car, the best solution would be for you to purchase an audio course. Many of these courses are created specifically to use in a car. In case you have been under a rock for the last five years, Apple’s Ipod has been a phenomenal success, so much so that it’s spawned it’s owned cultures and styles. Apple’s latest release, the Iphone, looks set to do much the same thing, as it’s a cellphone which gives you full internet abilities and lets you carry your whole music and movie collection around and watch it on the go. One of the best reasons to own an Iphone, is so that you may download some of the cool software that’s emerging for it.

At this time, Apple have restricted the Iphone and don’t allow any third party manufacturers to develop software for it. Many people fail to see the point of this restriction, and even though the device is relatively new, and hackers have already been able to bypass security on the unit and get into the firmware. This means that users are no longer stuck with the cell networks that Apple have forced onto them-Apple aren’t too pleased however, and have issued statements declaring that such hacking will violate the terms and conditions of the user’s guarantee.

It is reported that Apple are soon to be releasing a security update for the Iphone, which will of course be mandatory, and will once again attempt to block the use of other cell networks. Whether the hackers will again be able to break into the firmware after this update is anybody’s guess. The other major aspect to be updated, it is thought, is to give the Iphone direct access to the Itunes media download store, which as it stands cannot be done directly through the phone itself. Apple was accused of dropping the ball in a major way when the Iphone went live and people discovered for all it’s technology, it was unable to download music directly to the phone itself, something other cellphones have been capable of for the last couple of years at least.

Apple have recently committed themselves to ongoing updates and development of the Iphone software, which will be obtainable free of charge for all users. Whether this is truly a goodwill gesture as they seem to claim or just an attempt to repeatedly block the hackers remains to be seen.

Iphones really are starting to be the new craze, taking over from the Ipod. If you want to be able to listen to music, use your cellphone, browse the web and watch movies, what more could you want?

By using various management methods such as statistical methods, the Six Sigma tries find and delete any defects or errors during the manufacturing and business process. The strategy is also responsible for training a group of quality management method experts. Similar to some other business management methods, the Six Sigma project teams always have a specific plan with milestones along with a clear financial target.

History
Originally, the Six Sigma was designed to be a practice to solely improve the manufacturing process by eliminating the defects, which is defined as anything that could dissatisfy a customer. It quickly became adopted in other parts of the business too as the Six Sigma showed great success.

The idea was first proposed and developed by Bill Smith in 1986. However, the idea sprung from the works of others such as Shewhart, Juran, Taguchi, Deming, and Ishikawa and their contributions to quality control, TQM, and Zero Defects.

The term and the symbol (6σ) itself comes from the study of process capability, a section from statistics. At first, its goal was to create a level of manufacturing so that a high number of the output will meet the minimum specifications. Now, it has grown, and the quality demands and strives to keep the defect level at 3.4 defects per million opportunities (DPMO) or below. Of course, its goal is to keep the number even lower.

In 2006, Motorola reported a savings of over $17 billion US dollars and since, many other companies such as the Honeywell International (previously known as Allied Signal) along with General Electric adopted the model, headed by the famous Jack Welch. Recently, many corporations have been adopting the Six Sigma with lean manufacturing to conduct a methodology known as the Lean Six Sigma.

The Core of Six Sigma
There are quite a few things that the Six Sigma emphasizes:
 One is that constant effort should be made to achieve expected and stable results, as it is of high importance to the success of a business.
 Another is that all manufacturing and business processes can somehow be measured, analyzed, enhanced upon, and controlled.
 Commitment from the organization, especially those in the top-level management, is integral to maintaining continuous improvements.

The Uniqueness of Six Sigma
Six Sigma is quite different from other business improvement initiatives in a few ways.
 It has a very definite and straight plan to achieve quantifiable monetary returns.
 It calls for an enthusiastic management team with great leadership skills.
 It has a special infrastructure that administers the implementation of the Six Sigma.
 It requires decision making based on verifiable statistics rather than pure assumptions and guesses.

Six Sigma Criticisms
Although Six Sigma’s low defect rate is impressive, it has its downsides.
 Not Original: The Six Sigma has been dubbed “unoriginal?by a quality expert Joseph Juran, saying that it is just a fancy version of a simple quality improvement method.
 Not Progressive: The Six Sigma is said to be effective at solving the current programs that exist. However, it is not so effective at coming up with new and innovative technologies and products.
 Incorrect Standard: The 3.4 defects per million might be suitable for some products and some companies, but it certainly is not for all. Thus, its numbers are certainly not universal.

HSCSD
HSCSD or High Speed – Circuit Switched Data is a high speed data transfer technology for GSM-based networks. It improves upon the Circuit Switched Data technology in order to enhance data throughput capacity while using currently existing network infrastructure.

HSCSD manages to improve the rate of data transmission up to four times that of normal GSM networks that use plain CSD. This improved technology accomplishes this feat using two distinct methods. Firstly, it uses a more flexible error correction methodology. In normal CSD, the data transfer rate is 9.6 kbit/s. A considerable portion of this bandwidth is used for transmitting error correction codes, irrespective of the quality of transmission. HSCSD on the other hand uses error correction codes only when the transmission quality is poor. Under good transmission conditions, the transmission rate can reach 14.4 kbit/s since less error correction codes are required to be sent. This technique alone improves the throughput by 50%.

Secondly, HSCSD can use multiple time slots to increase data throughput. While CSD uses a single time slot per user, HSCSD can use up to 4 time slots simultaneously. It is analogous to the difference in the amount of traffic that can pass through a single lane and a 4-lane highway. Using this technique, HSCSD can offer data transfer rates up to four times that of normal CSD networks. When the transmission quality is poor and the network is operating at 9.6 kbit/s, HSCSD can offer speeds up to 38.4 kbit/s. But when the transmission quality is good and the network is working at 14.4 kbit/s, HSCSD can offer speeds up to 57.6 kbit/s.

However, what speed the consumer finally gets is determined by the infrastructure used by the network operators. While some operators offer two time slots per user, others offer three slots. Even at current rates of data transfer, HSCSD is much faster than comparable technologies like GPRS.

Anonymous surfing is browsing web sites privately.
Anonymous surfing encompasses two different forms of privacy.
Anonymous, Surfing
Anonymous surfing is browsing web sites privately.
Anonymous surfing encompasses two different forms of privacy:
?Privacy protection from the web site you are browsing.
?Privacy protection from eavesdroppers who may be watching your network connection.
Why Anonymous Surfing?
There are many reasons why someone would want to do anonymous surfing. People surf anonymously to protect themselves from the government, their employers, or nosy family members.
People in Iran use anonymous surfing to prevent being executed in the streets. People in corporate America use anonymous surfing to avoid sharing the details of their personal lives with their employers. Everyone uses anonymous surfing to protect their privacy from nosy web sites and annoying advertisers.
How does anonymous surfing work?
Anonymous web surfing works by putting a proxy server between the user and the web site. The web browser talks to the proxy server, and the proxy server talks to the web site.
The web site does not know who you are, it only knows who the anonymous proxy server is. The anonymous proxy server does know who you are — so you had better choose an anonymous proxy server that you trust.
There are four technical approaches utilized to enable anonymous surfing through a proxy server:
Anonymous surfing through a web site
With these systems, you browse the web site of the anonymous proxy server and enter in the URL of the web page you actually want to surf.
Anonymous surfing through client applications
With these systems, you download and install a client application which manages the details of anonymous surfing for you.
Anonymous surfing though an anonymous web proxy service
With these services, you configure your browser to point to an anonymous web proxy. These systems are public and are setup and advertised for anonymous proxy usage.
Anonymous surfing though an anonymous server

You normally do not know who is running each of these anonymous proxy servers. You hope it isn’t someone who is recording your traffic.

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol or LDAP is a TCP/IP-based Internet protocol used by email programs and a few other applications to search and fetch information from a directory stored on a server. A directory is a data repository storing identical chunks of information in a hierarchical and logical sequence.

For instance, a telephone directory that has various subscriber names indexed alphabetically with associated telephone numbers and addresses is an example of a directory. This kind of a structure can easily be implemented using LDAP. However, this protocol is not limited to accessing just contact information about people. It can locate shared resources on a network like printers and scanners, and allow people to use the resources and other shared services using a single password.

LDAP can be successfully implemented where identical forms of sequentially stored information need to be accessed quickly and where updates are done very rarely. Email clients frequently use LDAP to access directory information from a server. Since LDAP does not support encryption, processes like updating and modifying information on the server from the client needs to be done using a secure SSL connection.

LDAP can also use DNS or Domain Name System to structure the top-level of its hierarchy. This enables the system to have a wide scope at the top end of the hierarchy, but at the same time funnel down to a single specific entity at the lower end of the hierarchy. For instance, the top level may represent countries, states or other large geographical boundaries, whereas the bottom end might point to a single document on a computer, a shared resource on a network or a particular individual’s information. This makes the protocol very versatile in dealing with a large variety of applications.

The University of Michigan developed the LDAP protocol and its current version is LDAPv3.
